Buffered organic acids; phytogenics; monoester fatty acids, carriers.
Poultry and swine of all ages.
Oral solution to be added to drinking water.
DigestoCid© is intended as a water sanitizer and to improve gut health in poultry and swine of all ages.
Bottles of 1 L.
1. DigestoCid© shows a broader spectrum of action than products based solely on organic acids.
2. It is not necessary to achieve a pH<4
The use of acidifiers is based on the principle that pathogenic bacteria stop growing at a pH below 4.
However, such a low pH can damage the water lines, impair the use of water-soluble vaccines and medications, cause the precipitation of minerals suspended in water, lead to reductions in water and feed consumption and even irritate the surface of the digestive system of the bird.
DigestoCid© contains a synergistic combination of organic acids, monoester fatty acids and phytogenics with a wide spectrum of action, allowing a better antibacterial and antifungal effectiveness at a less acidic pH (5.5-6.5).
At a pH of 5.5-6.5, chlorine used as a sanitizer is more effective and the other negative effects of water acidification disappear.
3. Digestocid© does not promote the growth of mold and algae
Another downside to using acidifiers at a pH below 4 is that they can promote the growth of algae and fungi in the watering system.
If the drinking system is dirty with yeast or mold, then lowering the pH of the water could create a more favorable environment for the slime to thrive resulting in clogged drinkers. Most molds prefer a pH of 2 to 5.
DigestoCid© contains ingredients with powerful fungicide activity and when added to drinking water at the recommended doses does not create a favorable environment for molds.
4. The organic acids in DigestoCid© are buffered
DigestoCid© contains a combination of organic acids and their salts, obtaining a buffer.
When applying non buffered acids to the drinking water, pH decreases quickly. If the dose is too high, there is a quick pH reduction that can be fatal to the animals. Instead, with buffered acids, the pH reduction is slower, making the product safer.
Moreover, buffered acids are more stable in the drinking water and remain effective until ingestion by the animal.
5. DigestoCid© is effective all along the digestive tract
Organic acids are small molecules. Once they enter the body, they are absorbed into blood in the upper part of the digestive tract. Therefore, their microbiocide and pH lowering effects are limited to the upper part of the gut.
Monoester fatty acids are larger molecules compared to organic acids, which results in slower breakdown and uptake of the molecules in the digestive system. Therefore, these molecules will reach the lower part of the intestinal tract and can exert an antimicrobial effect.
The phytogenics in DigestoCid© are also effective all along the digestive tract.
