10 Jun Success case: PlusBreathe© relieves heat stress, improves feed intake and reduces mortality in layers
Last August, we conducted an experiment at one farm of a large egg producer to verify the effect of our product, PlusBreathe©.
From this experiment, it can be seen that the use of PlusBreathe© can effectively alleviate heat stress, increase feed and water intake, and reduce the mortality of layers.
Trial design
The trial took place during a hot period, with temperatures outside the farm ranging from 36ºC to 39ºC.
One house with 55,000 layers was selected as trial group. There was no control group.
- From August 25th to 29th, the birds received PlusBreathe through drinking water, from 8 am to 17 pm.
- Each afternoon, a water dilution of PlusBreathe was sprayed in the environment of the farm.
During the period, the following parameters were observed: water intake, feed intake, daily mortality.
Results
Daily feed intake, g/animal
Daily water consumption, L/animal
Daily mortality, nº birds/day
Conclusions
With the use of PlusBreathe, feed and water intake increased, while the daily mortality was reduced.
