Success case: promoting feed intake in heat-stressed native chickens | PlusVet Animal Health
Multiple studies have shown that heat stress significantly reduces feed intake, daily weight gain and feed use. In this article, we present three cases of native broiler farms, located in subtropical climates. In the three farms, the birds were affected by heat stress and their feed intake was below the standard of the breed. In all cases, the feed intake increased after the administration of PlusBreathe©.

Success case: promoting feed intake in heat-stressed native chickens

Multiple studies have shown that heat stress significantly reduces feed intake, daily weight gain and feed use.

In this article, we present three cases of native broiler farms, located in subtropical climates. In the three farms, the birds were affected by heat stress and their feed intake was below the standard of the breed. In all cases, the feed intake increased after the administration of PlusBreathe©.

Farm nº1

Brown speckled broilers, 61 days-old, 12000 birds.

The animals showed signs of heat stress and their feed intake hadn’t increased for one week.

They were treated with PlusBreathe© by drinking water .

Farm nº2

Brown speckled broilers, 53 days-old, 7000 birds.

The animals showed signs of heat stress and their feed intake hadn’t increased for two weeks.

They were treated with PlusBreathe© by drinking water combined with spraying in the environment of the farm.

Farm nº3

Spotted-neck broilers, 45 days-old, 14800 birds.

The animals showed signs of heat stress and their feed intake was way below the standard of the breed.

They were treated with PlusBreathe© by spraying it in the environment of the farm.

Conclusion

After the administration of PlusBreathe© during 3 days, the birds in all farms became active and energetic and the daily feed intake increased an average of 11.6%.
